Thanks for the review Candy. I wish the game didn't have the non-Aerosmith songs as well. With a band as accomplished as Aerosmith, choosing 40 songs throughout there career is not a tough thing to do and it doesn't seem like getting permission to use the songs for this release would have been an issue. There are a good many of my favorite Aerosmith songs on this title, but I do wish some of the band's other hits were on this game (I'm not sure how well they would be in a GH game though). I definitely will get this game, but I'm just not doing it now. I've got a birthday next month and family members always want to know what games I want, this will be on the list. Again, thanks for the review. |

No problem Kevin. Like I was telling Extreme yesterday, maybe I am being too picky about this game. But when you have this hot selling franchise branded for one game with one of the top bands ever, you would think more time and effort would have been put it to make the overall package that much more authentic. Don't get me wrong, as I posted in the review, this is still worth purchasing. I hope that Neversoft/Activision learn from this when they release the Metallica version next year. |

That Metallica edition will be so hard, I'm wondering how casual fans will enjoy that. I'm ok at GH, I can play on the hard level and usually beat all the songs except for maybe one or two, but Enter Sandman on Rock Band is the only Metallica on either of the guitar games that I have been able to beat on Hard. One, Ride the Lightning, And Justice For All, and Blackened all kick my butt on Hard. I can't imagine an entire game with tracks like those!

Nice review- I'd still love to see a Beatles or Zeppelin release. Doubt that will ever happen. Aerosmith had tons of great songs, and most of my favorites by them were not big hits. I liked their obscure stuff the best. |

Watch Out!

Good review...though I'm not sure how you can say the difficulty didn't ramp up in previous games, with the worst offender being GHIII. In the Harmonix developed games I could beat the Career mode in Expert and still notch a couple five stars, mostly fours, and a three or two in the final two tiers. In GHIII I couldn't even advance out of the second to last tier on Expert, saw 'Raining Blood', tried it in Quickplay, and realized that my dinky plastic controller would have been through my screen had I gotten that far. Couple that with 'Train Kept A Rollin' in this release, with may more notes than the song itself on Expert (what was wrong with the 'Rock Band' note chart?), and I see why I've so soured on the 'Guitar Hero' franchise. I could also quibble about the stupid practice of not unlocking Achievements for lower difficulties if you beat the Career on Hard or Expert, the stiff and repetitive animations of the characters, the fact that you can't buy all the stuff in the store without going through multiple difficulty levels in the career (not a problem in GH1 and GH2), the terrible sound mixing (parts seem to drop in and out and are continually drowned out)...I'm finished with this franchise! While I would like to purchase 'Guitar Hero: Metallica', as they without a doubt my favorite band of all time, I don't see why they'll change anything for that release. Activision will probably develop it for their new package, give me a goddamn conniption fit. Neversoft dropped the ball hard with these last two releases and I've found a better musical home. |

Thanks Coffee and Johnny. This game was just weird with the speed in the difficulty that comes out of nowhere. I agree with you Johnny that this franchise is on its last legs and if they don't do something for Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Band is coming behind them with a vengeance. One thing that bothers me and I will continue to bring this up again is that this is where are their good songs from the 90's or even 2000's? Don't get me wrong, I also love their music from the 70's and 80's...........but come on. Where is: "Janie's Got a Gun" "Rag Doll" "Dude (Looks Like a Lady)" "Amazing" "Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)" "Jaded" "Crazy" "Hole in My Soul" "Eat the Rich" "Cryin" "F.I.N.E.*" "Angel" "Lightning Strikes" "Remember (Walking in the Sand)" I will get the Metallica version for sure if it is released, they are one of my most favorite bands. But if they mess up Guitar Hero World Tour I am done with this franchise myself. The only thing they have going for themselves is that their hardware is top notch, if Harmonix hardware catches up in build quality.......better watch out Neversoft/Activision. |
